Don’t throw those old jeans away! You can make this denim flower any size you want from an old pair of jeans. I made mine small so that I can use it for a pin cushion. You can make this larger for a bed pillow, or small and add potpourri for a scented sachet. What a nice touch that would make on top of a gift. This project from old jeans is super quick and easy to make.

YOU WILL LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL DENIM FLOWER! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:
- old denim
- scraps of cotton fabric
- buttons
- embroidery thread
- basic sewing supplies
Denim Flower – Step 1
First, make a circle pattern, or template. I just used an old CD.
Denim Flower – Step 2
Next cut out a circle from the denim and from the cotton fabric of your choice. Pin the two circles pretty sides together and stitch around the outer edge using the pressure foot as your guide. Leave a 3″ opening for turning and stuffing.
Denim Flower – Step 3
Turn the flower pretty side out through the opening. Stuff the flower with fiberfill of your choice. Hand stitch the opening closed.
Denim Flower – Step 4
With embroidery thread through a needle tie a knot at the end and come up through the middle of the flower. Take the needle to the outer edge of the flower and bring it up the middle again.
Denim Flower – Step 5
Do this 5 times until you have created a “flower” look with the embroidery thread as shown in the photo. Stitch a button in the middle of the flower.
There! You have created an awesome denim flower, and recycled, and helped saved our planet, all at the same time. We’d love to see a photo of your recycled project!
