2020 Fashion Show Designer – Maeve

This year I have challenged myself by designing an avant-garde line inspired by the famous buildings around the world including, the Eiffel Tower, One World Trade Center, Taj Mahal, and the Sydney Opera House. In Edifice Edition, I made specific choices of fabric to reflect the architecture of each building such as upholstery canvas with a crisscross pattern for the rigid structure of the Eiffel Tower, clear blue vinyl over sparkling sequins for the reflective quality of the glass of The One World Trade Center, a tulle skirt with gold brocade to accent the unique figure of the Taj Mahal, and stain supported by interfacing to mimic the shape of the Taj Mahal. I Have continued to advance my sewing skills using techniques such as drafting and adapting patterns, working with complicated materials such as sequins, vinyl, tulle,  and brocade, and perfecting notions such as invisible zippers and buttons. Bringing these monuments to life through fabric and design  has been challenging yet rewarding.
