YOU WILL LOVE THIS SOFT VALENTINE’S DAY PILLOW! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:
- about 1/2 yard red fluffy craft fur
- about 1/2 yard of pink craft fur
- fiberfill or craft stuffing
- basic sewing supplies
Feel free to use our free big fur heart pillow pattern!
Big Fur Pillow – Step 1
Start by cutting out your heart pattern you can make your own pattern or use our free big heart pattern. Pin and cut out 2 hearts pieces of fabric for each heart pillow. Place the fabric PRETTY SIDES TOGETHER and pin around the heart as shown.
Big Fur Pillow – Step 2
Next make sure you leave about a 4″ opening. As shown in the photo, you can see where I left the opening with the “X”s I drew. Stitch around the heart using the pressure foot as your guide. (Don’t forget: Do not sew at the opening so you can turn your heart pillow pretty side out.)
Big Fur Pillow – Step 3
Then turn your heart pillow pretty side out and stuff it. After that hand stitch your opening close.
Big Fur Pillow – Step 4
When sewing with fur it tends to stick in the seam. You can get a pin and gently pull the loose fur up at the seam line. Doing this “hides” the seam line, looks more professional, and makes the pillow seem “fluffier.”
Sometimes decorating is in how you display it. Take for example these adorable red and pink fur heart pillows I made. They were quick and easy to make, and didn’t cost much at all. But when I add greenery to the back ground with white lights, and drape glitter hearts with pearls over the pillows, it really looks inviting and festive on my fire place mantel for my sweethearts (kids) to see.
Your Fur Heart Valentine Pillow is done! Now make the pink one the same way.
