Title: Dumbo

“I was inspired by the young magical elephant, Dumbo. He was originally mocked for his giant ears, but his oddity became his greatest ability. The fullness and lightness of the skirt represents his innocence and the weightless feeling of flying. I celebrate his hidden strengths and paid tribute to his marvelous ears with my sheer balloon sleeves. My dress uses colors reminiscent of Dumbo of his time in the circus.

Title: Modern Rapunzel

“My Disney look is a modern take on Rapunzel’s dress in the Disney movie, Tangled. Rapunzel is my favorite Disney princess and I love etc colors used in her dress. I was originally going to use this dress as my Junior Prom dress, but prom was cancelled. This dress is a modern and formal dress drawing from inspiration from the original iconic Disney look. I also wanted the dress to be ankle length like Rapunzel’s dress instead of the usual floor length dress.”

Title: “Be Prepared”

“This competition look is inspired by Scar from the Lion King. I used faux suede fabric to mimic the feel of animal skin and designed a corset with boning to give the appearance of the ribcage of a lion.”
