How to Make a Christmas Fabric Pinwheel Ornament

These festive Christmas pinwheel ornaments are perfect for any Christmas tree! You can make it in the classic red and green or in your favorite colors or themed fabric you happen to be decorating with this year! Either way, this pinwheel looks best when using two different fabrics. Because this craft is so simple, you can make them as favors for your Christmas party or as gifts for all your family members. FOR EACH FABRIC PINWHEEL YOU MAKE, I USED:

How to Make a Fabric Pinwheel Ornament – Step 1

Cut two 5″ squares of Christmas fabric in opposite  colors. (One square of each color)

How to Make a Fabric Pinwheel Ornament – Step 2

Cut a square of interfacing just a tad bit smaller than 5″x5″, and iron it on the ugly side of each piece.

How to Make a Fabric Pinwheel Ornament – Step 3

Place the fabrics ugly sides together and pin around the outer edge of the square.

Stitch around the square using the pressure foot as your guide.

As you can see from the picture below, from each corner, cut almost to the center.

Stitch around each slit that you just cut to hold the fabric together.

How to Make a Fabric Pinwheel Ornament – Step 6

Gather up each left corner and bring to the center of the square.  This creates the pinwheel.  Stitch in place at the center.

For your final step, hand stitch a button in the center of your pinwheel.
