TIME TO SEW THESE SIMPLE SNACK PACKS! HERE ARE THE SUPPLIES WE USED:
- 1″ Wide Velcro
- Laminated Cotton Fabric
- Basic Sewing Supplies
FOR EACH SNACK PACK YOU MAKE, YOU WILL CUT:
- two pieces of laminated cotton measuring 7″x16″
DIY Reusable Snack Pack- Step 1
With your 2 fabrics right sides together, sew around all 4 sides using a 5/8″ seam allowance. Leave a 3″ opening on one of the short edges for turning. Trim seams and clip your corners.
DIY Reusable Snack Pack- Step 2
Next, turn your project right side out and carefully poke out all the corners using a turning tool. (I use a chopstick. If you don’t have one, you can use any pointy object you have, like a wooden dowel or the end of a pencil.)
DIY Reusable Snack Pack- Step 3
Fold in both sides of the seam where the opening is so there are no raw edges. Topstitch using the pressure foot edge as your guide around all 4 sides of your project. Sewing around the edges will close the opening.
DIY Reusable Snack Pack- Step 4
Then, measure and cut your velcro out on your project to the desired length. We cut our velcro to 5″.
DIY Reusable Snack Pack- Step 5
Fold one short end of your piece up. Place one piece of velcro on the top of this edge. Your other piece of velcro will go at the top of the project on the inside. Pin the velcro in place, only pinning it to one layer of the project. You will not be sewing either velcro piece to both layers.
DIY Reusable Snack Pack- Step 6
Then, sew all the way around the two velcro pieces, backstitching at the end to enforce. Again, remember to not attach the velcro while your project is still folded. They should only be attached to one layer.
DIY Reusable Snack Pack- Step 7
After sewing the velcro down, fold up the bottom short end _” up so both velcro pieces are facing you. Sew up the left and right sides to create the pouch of your snack pack. Backstitch at either end to enforce your work.
Here is the finished project! I hope you enjoy making and using these eco-friendly snack packs!
