Each May, we host our “End-of-the-Year” party for our sewing students who attend our weekly sewing classes. We honor their dedication and loyalty to both the art of sewing and our studio!
As someone who grew up in that decade during their age, I wanted to share the nostalgic experience with the students. We immersed ourselves in the spirit of the 70s, indulging in games, delicious food, lively contests, and music that defined the era. Join us as we revisit the highlights from our unforgettable event, aptly titled “The 1970s, The Decade That Was Groovy!”

Check out this awesome snapshot of our amazing senior designers showing off their well-earned end-of-year rewards! At our studio, we have a super cool tradition of honoring our rockstar students every year with ribbon awards. These ribbons are like shiny badges of their incredible achievements and hard work.
But wait, there’s more! When our students reach the epic milestone of five years, they level up to the highest honor: trophies of honor! These trophies are like golden symbols of their dedication and talent. They shine brighter than a disco ball and make everyone go, “Wow!”
We couldn’t be prouder of our talented students and all they’ve accomplished. They’re like the superstars of our studio, and we love celebrating their awesomeness. Let’s give them a round of applause for their outstanding achievements and for being the grooviest senior designers around!
Oh, let’s talk about our epic end-of-year party, where we take dressing up to a whole new level! This year, we turned up the groovy dial with our theme: “The 1970s, The Decade That Was Groovy!” And let me tell you, it was a blast from the past!
Now, I must spill a little secret. Sneakers? (I told my students I forgave them for wearing sneakers to a 70s party…) Oh, no way, man! In the ’70s, I was way too cool to be caught dead in sneakers. You’d only find me rockin’ clogs, super cool boots, or flip-flops. Sneakers were strictly reserved for gym class or sports. But let’s get back to our stylish students!
Among the sea of groovy outfits, we’ve narrowed it down to the top three, and boy, are they a sight to behold. We’re talkin’ wild patterns, long skirt, belly showing, and hairstyles that reached for the stars. These students really embraced the spirit of the ’70s and took us on a groovy trip down memory lane. These students sure know how to keep the groovy vibes alive!
Hey there, party people! As the groovy host and proud owner of this studio, I absolutely love getting creative with our team competitions that perfectly match the party’s theme. And let me tell you, this one took us straight back to the funky vibes of the 1970s! Picture this: hippies, tie-dye, and vibrant colors everywhere.
Now, back in the day, those peace-loving hippies had a knack for crafting beautiful yarn wall hangings that brought life and color to their bedrooms. So, I challenged our awesome students to tap into their inner flower child and create their own groovy wall hangings. With just 25 minutes on the clock, they went to work using yarn, a stick, and felt to bring their artistic visions to life.
Let me tell you, the results were absolutely mind-blowing! These wall hangings are bursting with vibrant colors and far-out designs. They truly capture the spirit of the ’70s and take us on a journey through time. I couldn’t be prouder of our talented team and their ability to embrace the grooviness of that era. So get ready to be wowed by these colorful creations because they are seriously groovy, baby!
Get ready to groove, folks, because this next competition was a total blast! Picture this: it’s Christmas morning, and our students just unwrapped the gift they’ve been waiting for all year—the ultimate symbol of coolness, a brand new denim jacket! Can you feel the excitement in the air?
Now armed with brightly colored scrap fabric, a needle, and thread, these kids were given a mission: to create patches that would transport us straight back to the groovy ’70s. We’re talking peace signs, flowers, the American flag, and all those rad symbols of the era.
Let me tell you, the creativity was off the charts! These students stitched up (BY HAND) patches that would make any ’70s fashionista proud, and they only had 20 minutes to do so. Each patch was a burst of color, personality, and pure grooviness. It was like stepping into a time machine and reliving the coolest moments of the past.
Now, let’s give a round of applause to the winners of this epic competition! They blew us away with their far-out patches that scream “70s vibes.” They totally nailed the retro look and took us on a groovy trip down memory lane.
Oh, let’s talk about the other groovy competitions we had at our party! Did you check out those eye-popping tissue paper flowers on the wall? Our talented students made those beauties themselves. It was a race against the clock as each group had just 15 minutes to create a cluster of big, bold, and oh-so-colorful tissue paper flowers.
Picture this: those vibrant flowers you would have seen at any free-spirited ’70s party or gathering. We’re talking bursts of red, yellow, blue, and every groovy color in between! These flowers were all about embracing that funky, carefree spirit of the era.
Our students really tapped into their inner flower child as they crafted these whimsical creations. The room was filled with laughter, creative energy, and an explosion of color. It was like stepping into a time capsule and finding ourselves at the coolest party of the ’70s!
They also took a quiz about what a teenagers life was like in the 1970s! We had so much fun!
Here are some pictures of our students hard at work during our competitions!
Thank you for reading about our groovy good time throwback to the 70s!
