Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey – Step 1
Start by tracing around your child’s or your own hand with a pencil.
Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey – Step 2
After you have traced your handprint go back over it in marker. Make your feathers by drawing a curve under your fingers and labeling them 1-4. This will become your pattern.
Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey – Step 3
Now you are going to fold your brown fabric in half so that you cut two handprints one for the front and one for the back. Then pin your handprint to the fabric and cut it out.
Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey – Step 4
Next you are going to cut the fingers off of your pattern so that you can cut out your feathers. You will cut different colored fabrics for each feather and you will only need one feather for each piece.
Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey – Step 5
After cutting out your feathers you are going to place the two turkey bodies pretty sides out. Pin each of the feathers in place. Leave a 3-4″ opening at the bottom. Then go around and zig-zag stitch all the way around your turkey making sure to leave that opening at the bottom.
Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey – Step 6
Then you are going to stuff your handprint turkey. Once you have stuffed it you will zig-zag stitch closed the bottom of your turkey.
Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey – Step 7
Finally hand sew on your button eye and you are done!
You now have an adorable Thanksgiving Handprint Turkey to display on your table for years to come!
