Any dedicated quilter will tell you that if there is left over fabric from a project,… it needs to be kept and stored away for smaller quilting and sewing projects. The same goes for knitters. Keep all left over yarns for smaller knitting projects. After you’ve been knitting for a while you’ll notice your stash growing. Here’s a great project to do with some of that left over yarn.

THIS SCARF IS THE PERFECT WAY TO REPURPOSE THOSE PESKY SCRAPS OF YARN YOU HAVE FROM PREVIOUS PROJECTS! HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- scraps of yarn
- large wooden needles
This scarf is simple to make and only requires the knit stitch. Gather coordinating colors you would like your scarf to be knitted in. This scarf can be done with just a straight knit pattern and every 10 – 12 rows the yarn was changed. I used large wooden needles and I cast on 12 stitches for one scarf, and 15 for the other.
Make it fun and interesting and change color and texture of the yarn. Here’s one in black, grey, and white. This is one of my favorite scarves that I can wear with just about any jacket.
Once my mom saw the finished project of the knitted black, grey, and white scarf above, she put her request in for me to make her one for her Red Hat’s Group. So I gathered all my purple and red yarns and knitted this scarf for her.
I hope you enjoy this scarf made from yarn scraps! Send us a photo of your project knitted from left over yarn, we’d love to see it!
