I absolutely adore fall so I just had to make this pumpkin! This disappearing nine patch autumn pumpkin will look great anywhere in your seasonal decor. Not to mention I had such a fun time making it. Not only do you get to pick your own fabrics for the pumpkin, but it is also something that I feel like I normally don’t see in stores.

THIS DISAPPEARING 9 PATCH FALL PUMPKIN LOOKS GREAT ANYWHERE! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:
- Different fall fabrics
- Cinnamon or regular stick
- Fake fall leaves, moss or other autumn greenery
- Stuffing
- Basic sewing supplies
Disappearing 9 Patch Pumpkin – Step 1
You are going to start by making two regular nine patches. So the first thing that you want to is cut out two 5″ by 5″ squares from 9 different fabrics.

Next, you are sewing the rows of your nine patch together. There should be three squares in each row. Pin the pretty sides of each square together across the row and then sew on the pressure foot edge. Above is a picture of what your finished row should look like.

Now you are going to sew three of your rows together to make two nine patches.

Cut down and across the center of both your nine patches.

Arrange your squares the way you would like them to look for your disappearing nine patch. After that pin the pretty sides together and sew pressure foot edge down the center of the two seams for both squares.

Then you are going to sew each side seam of your two disappearing nine patch squares pretty side together at the pressure foot edge. This should form a loop.
Disappearing 9 Patch Pumpkin – Step 7
Thread a hand needles and hand baste the bottom edge of your pumpkin from the ugly side of your fabric. You are going to sew up and down and then pull your stitching. This is so that the bottom of your pumpkin gathers together. Pull the stitching nice and tight and then knot it off.

Stuff your pumpkin and do your hand gathering stitch to the top of the pumpkin as well. Leave the top open for the next step though.

Finally, put a cinnamon stick or regular stick in the top of your pumpkin and pull your gathering around it. Then hot glue it in place to further secure it. After that you can go ahead and add any other fall greenery that your would like to add.
Your disappearing nine patch autumn pumpkin is now finished and ready to be displayed!
