Don’t know what to do with those old jeans that don’t fit anymore? Here’s a cute idea… a denim tote bag. This tote bag is Eco-friendly and made from old denim fabric that would have otherwise gone to landfills. What better way to repurpose your old jeans into an adorable bag and help the environment.

THIS RECYCLED JEAN TOTE BAG IS A GREAT PROJECT THAT ANYONE WILL LOVE! HERE IS WHAT I USED TO MAKE IT:
- one pair of old jeans
- basic sewing supplies
Denim Tote Bag – Step 1
First get an old pair of jeans and cut off the legs just below the pockets as shown in the photo.
Denim Tote Bag – Step 2
Once you have the fabric you want for making your denim tote bag, cut a strip that will fit around the bottom of your jeans you just cut. Cut a strip 8″ X the width of the bottom of your pants. Sew the strip seam down the 8″ side as shown in the photo. Your strip will now be a circle.
Denim Tote Bag – Step 3
Pin the circle strip you just made and the bottom of the jeans you just cut PRETTY SIDES TOGETHER as shown in the photo.
Here is another photo from a different angle of what the pretty sides together would look like. Stitch the seam.
Denim Tote Bag – Step 4
Pull the fabric ends together and pin pretty sides together. This is going to be the bottom of your bag. Stitch the seam and then zigzag the edges as shown in the photo.
Denim Tote Bag – Step 5
To corner off the bottom of your bag, fold as shown in the photo, and stitch as shown in the photo. Do this to both sides.
Denim Tote Bag – Step 6
Cut 2 strips of fabric 4″ X 20″. Pin the length of each strip pretty sides together. Stitch. Turn pretty sides out. Press. Pin and stitch the handles to each side of your bag.
Your denim tote bag is now done and ready to be shown off! Everyone will love your eco-friendly bag!
