Just like baking cookies together, this patchwork pillow is an excellent way to spend some quality mother-daughter time around the holidays! It’s an easy project for first time sewers and the pillow will look fantastic throughout the season. The object of this mommy and me project is for mom to make one side of the pillow and the child make the other using the fabrics of their choice.

MAKE MEMORIES AND AN ADORABLE PILLOW THIS CHRISTMAS! HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS PROJECT:
- Mom’s Pillow – five 5″ squares of one fabric and four 5″ squares of contrasting fabric
- Child’s Pillow – five 5″ squares of one fabric and four 5″ squares of contrasting fabric
- Basic sewing supplies
Mommy & Me Christmas Pillow – Step 1
Start by having mom and child arrange nine squares on a table the way they want their side of the pillow to look. Open up the two fabric squares. Take the third square in the first row and add it to the row placing it pretty sides together.
Mommy & Me Christmas Pillow – Step 2
Now pin and sew your squares together. Do this for all three of your rows.
Mommy & Me Christmas Pillow – Step 3
This is what your three rows should look like.
Mommy & Me Christmas Pillow – Step 4
Next you need to sew the three rows together to create a pillow front. Place the first row on top of the middle row pretty sides together and pin matching seams. Stitch seam. Open up pillow front and add the third row to the second row in the same manner.
Mommy & Me Christmas Pillow – Step 5
This is what both pillow fronts will look like when done.
Mommy & Me Christmas Pillow – Step 6
After both sides of the pillow are finished place the two pillow fronts pretty sides together and pin all around the outer edge of the pillow. Leave a 5″ opening on one side. (This is for turning and stuffing.) Stitch around the pillow and pivot at the corners. Don’t forget to leave the opening! Turn pillow pretty side out.
Mommy & Me Christmas Pillow – Step 7
Finish your pillow by gently poking out the corners with a pencil. Stuff the pillow and hand sew the opening closed.
Now you have a two sided pillow to cherish and display every Christmas!
