THIS QUILTED AUTUMN SCENTED PUMPKIN HOT PAD LOOKS PERFECT IN ANY KITCHEN! HERE IS WHAT YOUR WILL NEED TO MAKE IT:
- small pieces of autumn fabric
- quilt batting (warm & natural is our favorite)
- whole cloves
- basic sewing supplies

Quilted Autumn Scented Pumpkin Hot Pad – Step 1
You are going to start by cutting two 8 1/2″ squares out of autumn fabric and two pieces of quilt batting the same size. Then you are going to pin and cut out a pumpkin from orange fabric. Feel free to use our free pumpkin hot pad pattern!

Next you are going to pin your pumpkin onto the front of one of your hot pad pieces. Cut out a 1″ square from brown scrape fabric. Place the square at the top under your pumpkin this will be your stem for your pumpkin.

Now you are going to zig-zag stitch around your pumpkin as shown above.

Then place the two hot pad quilt batting pieces on a flat surface. Put the two fabric hot pad pieces PRETTY SIDES TOGETHER. Place the fabric pieces on top of the quilt batting pieces. Pin around all four edges and through all four thicknesses.

After pinning stitch around the outer edge of your hot pad going through all four layers. Leave an opening on one side large enough to turn your hot pad pretty side out. Clip corners, and trim seams making sure not to cut your stitches. Then turn your hot pad pretty side out. At this point if you want your hot pad to have the scent of fall, add 1 teaspoon of whole cloves inside your hot pad.

Next pull out your corners, and press your hot pad nice and flat. Hand stitch the opening closed. Finally, straight stitch 2 lines down your pumpkin as shown in the photo. This gives “quilts” your hot pad and gives it a 3D looking effect.
Your Quilted Autumn Scented Pumpkin Hot Pad is now finished! To keep the hot pad scented from year to year, store in a plastic bag when not in use.
