Quilted Fall Leaves Doilies

Do you want to add some more festivity to your house this fall season? These harvest-colored quilted autumn leaves can be used as hot pads or decorations for your dinning room table. It is so much fun making something that I can display and say that I made it. If you want to add some spice you can add some whole clover to the inside of your leaves before you sew them up.

I LOVED DECORATING MY TABLED WITH THESE QUILTED AUTUMN LEAVES. HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THEM:

scraps of cotton fabric measuring about 10″ x 8″ in autumn prints and colors
Quilt batting
Basic sewing supplies

Quilted Fall Leaves – Step 1

The first thing you are going to do is cut out you leaf shape. You can use the free leaf pattern if you want! You could also draw a leaf that is about 9″ x 6″. You are going to pin one layer of quilt batting and two layers of fabric for each leaf.

Quilted Fall Leaves – Step 2

Next you are going to place the leaf shaped quilt batting down on a flat surface. Then put one of the fabric leaves down with pretty sides up. Then put the other fabric leaf pretty sides down, as shown in the photo to the left. The fabric leaves will be pretty sides together with the quilt batting under them.

Quilted Fall Leaves – Step 3

Now you are going to stitch around the leaf pressure foot edge. Make sure to leave an opening so that you can turn your leaf pretty side out. Once you are done sewing it you are going to clip your curves like in the image above. Make sure not to cut into your stitches.
