ANYONE WILL LOVE THIS HANDKERCHIEF MOTHER’S DAY GIFT! HERE IS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE IT:
- 10″ square of pretty vintage fabric
- 40″ of trim
Homemade Handkerchief – Step 1
Start by zigzag stitching around the outer edge of the fabric. This will hold the threads in from coming out when the hankie is washed, and it keeps the edges pretty. Then press your hankie nice and flat.
Homemade Handkerchief – Step 2
Now pin the pretty trim around the outer edge of your hankie. Stitch the pretty trim in place using a straight stitch.
Homemade Handkerchief – Step 3
If you want to, you can add an “M” for Mom or her initial on a corner of the hankie, as shown in the photo. Use an evaporating fabric pen, or if you do not have one, draw the letter very lightly with a pencil. Finally use a very small and tight zigzag stitch and sew around the letter.
You know have a beautiful homemade hankie to give to your mom for Mother’s Day!
