At the end of June, during summer camp, Taylor wanted to create a beautiful dress to attend a family member’s beach wedding. How sweet! However, Taylor only had a photo to reference, not the actual pattern. Although a daunting task, Taylor was up to the challenge. With Mrs. Harris’ help, Taylor was able to draft a pattern and create a loose, off-the-shoulder dress with an intricate ribbon “corset” design. Heres the pattern she used to base her design off of (she referenced View C, modeled by the taller girl): <\/span><\/p>\n

As said before, Taylor learned how to create a pattern from the base of others and her reference photo, which is a skill every young designer should learn at one point. After building her pattern and cutting it out, Taylor was ready to create the “corseted” ribbon silhouette that she saw in the reference. To do this, Taylor had to use her ribbon and carefully sew it in an intricate design. After doing this, she then made an elastic casing in both the neckline and sleeves to create the gathered effect around the arms and shoulders as shown in the pattern she chose. After putting the hems on, Taylor finished her dress! She was now ready to attend the wedding. Since the marriage did take place at a beach, Taylor chose a lovely teal to accent the glittering water of the occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only did Taylor make a <\/span>gorgeous dress, but she also made a stunning flower crown to accompany it! You can see the flower crown in detail in the photos taken at the Studio, especially in the third shot.<\/span><\/p>\n
